ALABAMA STATE TROOPERS ARE INVESTIGATING A FATAL ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED THIS MORNING AROUND 1:15 ON HIGHWAY 31 IN LIMESTONE COUNTY.

ACCORDING TO MEDIA, DEAN BUMPUS, 49, OF DECATUR, WAS STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO HELP A STRANDED FRIEND. HE WAS THERE WITH HIS TRUCK AND CAR HAULER TO PICK UP THE FRIEND'S BROKEN DOWN VEHICLE. AS BUMPUS WAS GETTING OUT OF HIS TRUCK ANOTHER DRIVER SIDE SWIPPED THE TRUCK AND HIT HIM, KILLING HIM INSTANTLY.

TRAFFIC IS NOW BACK TO NORMAL AFTER BEING BLOCKED FOR HOURS. NO WORD ON IF THERE ARE ANY CHARGES AT THIS TIME.
