A LAWRENCE COUNTY MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE COUNTS OF RAPE AFTER A TBI INVESTIGATION.

IN FEBRUARY, DISTRICT ATTORNEY BRENT COOPER, ASKED THE TBI TO BEGIN INVESTIGATING STEPHEN PURCHELL, JR, 30, OF LEOMA, ON ALLEGATIONS OF RAPE. DURING THE COURSE OF THE INVESTIGATION, IT WAS REVEALED THAT PURCELL HAD ALLEDGLY HELD A WOMAN AGAINST HER WILL AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HER AT HIS OLD JACKSON HIGHWAY HOME.

ACCORDING TO THE PRESS RELEASE, ON THURSDAY, PURCELL WAS INDICTED BY THE LAWRENCE COUNTY GRAND JURY AND IS BEING CHARGED WITH FOUR COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED RAPE, FOUR COUNTS OF RAPE, ONE COUNT OF AGGRAVATED KIDNAPPING, ONE COUNT OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND ONE COUNT OF DOMESTIC ASSAULT. PURCELL WAS ARRESTED THURSDAY NIGHT AND WAS BOOKED IN TO THE LAWRENCE COUNTY JAIL, WHERE HE IS BEING HELD ON A $250,000.
