THE LAWRENCE COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HAS ANNOUNCED THE ADDITION OF A NEW TEAM MEMBER TASKED WITH GROWING THE COMMUNITY’S TOURISM.  ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE, RACHEL GRIGSBY HAS BEEN NAMED THE AGENCY’S NEW TOURISM DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MARKETING THE COUNTY’S TOURISM ASSETS, DEVELOPING EVENTS AND FESTIVALS, NETWORKING, AND BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY.  CHAMBER PRESIDENT AND C-E-O ETHAN HADLEY INDICATED THAT NOW IS THE TIME FOR A FULL TIME POSITION FOCUSED ON TOURISM AS THE COUNTY SAW NEARLY 40 MILLION DOLLARS SPENT BY TOURISTS IN 2016.  TOURISM SPENDING GENERATED 3-POINT-6 MILLION DOLLARS IN STATE AND LOCAL TAX REVENUES DURING THE ONE YEAR PERIOD.  GRIGSBY ASSUMES HER NEW DUTIES ON TUESDAY.
