THE FLORENCE CITY COUNCIL VOTED TUESDAY TO DEDICATE $2 MILLION DOLLARS OF PUBLIC PARK AUTHORITY FUNDS TO GO TOWARDS RENOVATIONS OF THE CONFERENCE CENTER LOCATED NEAR THE MARRIOTT.  ACCORDING TO THE TIMES DAILY, THE MONEY WAS ORIGINALLY DEDICATED TO HELP BUILD AN ATTRACTION IN THE VETERANS PARK, BUT AFTER 13 YEARS OF NO PROGRESS, THE DECISION WAS MADE TO RELEASE THE FUNDS.  OFFICIALS ARE STARTING TO PUT TOGETHER A WISH LIST OF ITEMS TO BE DONE TO THE CONFERENCE CENTER, INCLUDING A MODERN KITCHEN, AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT AND AESTHETIC IMPROVEMENTS.
