THOUSANDS OF MOTORCYCLISTS WILL BE IN THE SHOALS AREA THIS WEEKEND AS PART OF THE ANNUAL TRAIL OF TEARS COMMEMORATIVE RIDE. ACCORDING TO THE TIMES DAILY, THE RIDE, WHICH IS IN REMEMBERANCE OF THE FORCED REMOVAL OF AMERICAN INDIANS FROM ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST TO OKLAHOMA IN THE LATE 1830S, SHOULD BE APPROACHING THE KILLEN AREA AROUND 12:45 AND FLORENCE AREA AROUND 1:30 ON SATURDAY. THE RIDERS WILL COME INTO EASTERN LAUDERDALE COUNTY ON US 72 AND TRAVEL ALONG FLORENCE BOULEVARD, TO COX CREEK PARKWAY, VETERANS DRIVE, SEMINARY STREET, ALABAMA 20 AND ON TO WATERLOO ROAD. TRAFFIC WILL BE STOPPED AS THE RIDERS GO BY, TRAFFIC DELAYS ARE EXPECTED IN THOSE AREAS.

THE TRAILS OF TEARS COMMEMORATIVE RIDE IS IN IT'S 24TH YEAR AND LOCAL EVENTS ARE SCHEDULED SURROUNDING THE EVENT ALL WEEKEND INCLUDING LIVE MUSIC AND NATIVE AMERICAN POW WOWS.
