THE LAWRENCE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN REGULAR SESSION TUESDAY AFTERNOON.  ALL CONSENT ITEMS WERE VOTED ON AS A WHOLE AND APPROVED BEFORE LEADERS MOVED ON TO REPORTS WHICH INCLUDED AN UPDATE FROM DIRECTOR ADKINS WHO ADVISED COVID NUMBERS CONTINUE TO DECLINE IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND THAT 400 EMPLOYEES WERE VACCINATED ON FEBRUARY 12TH AND THOSE EMPLOYEES WILL RECEIVE THEIR SECOND DOSE ON MARCH 12TH WHICH WILL BE A REMOTE DAY OF LEARNING. ADKINS WENT ON TO ADD THAT GRADES 9 THRU 12 WILL RETURN TO 4 DAY A WEEK IN PERSON LEARNING ON MARCH 29TH AND THAT THEY ARE ANTICIPATING RETURNING TO A 5 DAY A WEEK SCHEDULE IN FALL. A REMOTE OPTION WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE PIONEER VIRTUAL ACADEMY. BOARD MEMBERS RECEIVED THEIR DIRECTOR'S EVALUATION PACKETS WHICH WILL BE RETURNED AND OPENED BY THE BOARD CHAIRMAN AND WITH A MAJORITY VOTE MEMBERS DECIDED NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOARD SELF EVALUATION PROCESS. APPROVAL WAS GIVEN FOR LORETTO HIGH SCHOOL GREENHOUSE APPROVEMENTS AND TO HAVE CERTAIN LIGHT POLES AT THE EOC FOOTBALL REMOVED. TWO POSITIONS WERE VOTED ON AND PASSED, A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AT INGRAM SOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND A MAINTENANCE POSITION LAWRENCE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOLL. BEFORE ADJOURING MEMBERS CONSIDERED WHICH PASSED IN REGARDS TO CHANGING THE 2021 2022 SCHOOL YEAR SCHEDULE TO START THE FIRST DAY FROM AUGUST 2ND TO AUGUST 9TH.
