THE LAWRENCEBURG CITY COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION TODAY (THURSDAY). THE MEETING BEGAN WITH MAYOR BLAKE LAY AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL THANKING ALL DEPARTMENTS FOR THEIR WORK DURING THE SNOW STORMS BEFORE THE ATTENTION TURNED TO A LENGTHY AGENDA IN WHICH ALL ITEMS WERE VOTED ON AND APPROVED. AMONG THE ITEMS INCLUDED AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE AND ABANDON A 4,180.5 SQUARE FOOT SECTION OF AN ALLEY OFF THE WEST SIDE OF HIGHWAY 43 THAT RUNS BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH STREET AND AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING OF A CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED ON THe SOUTH SIDE OF GRANDDADDY ROAD FROM R2 TO R4. AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE 2020-2021 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET TO INCLUDE THE BOND ISSUE FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF 3.2 MILLION DOLLARS FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS WAS ALSO APPROVED AS WAS A RESOLUTION FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO TO APPLY AND ACCEPT A 100 PERCENT SAFER RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION GRANT NOT TO EXCEED 40 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO PURCHASE AN LED SIGN. A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT NOT TO EXCEED 410 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR LIGHTING IN UNDERSERVED AREAS OF LAWRENCEBURG ALSO SAW MUCH FAVOR AS DID A RESOLUTION TO WAIVE ALL FEES FOR ALL BUILDING PERMITS AND ANY PERMITS FOR THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR RENOVATIONS OF THE FORMER COLUMBIA STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE BUILDING FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD OFFICES.
