A TRAFFIC PURSUIT LATE LAST WEEK IN LAWRENCE COUNTY HAS RESULTED IN A DRUG ARREST. ACCORDING TO REPORTS A DEPUTY WITH THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT OBSERVED AN INDIVIDUAL DRIVING AN ATV RECKLESSLY THURSDAY IN THE SCHOOL ZONE ON HIGHWAY 20 IN SUMMERTOWN. THE DRIVER, KNOWN AS BRANDON BENNETT, CONTINUED TOWARDS MONUMENT ROAD PASSING CARS IN THE OTHER LANE, BEFORE THE DEPUTY COULD SAFELY INITIATE A TRAFFIC STOP. A TROOPER WITH THE TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL WHO WAS IN THE AREA THEN OBSERVED BENNETT DRIVING ERRATIC AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE FOUR-WHEELER. BENNETT LED THE TROOPER DOWN SUMMER OAKS CIRCLE AND WAS MET BY THE DEPUTY WHO HE MANUEVERED AROUND BEFORE RUNNING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND INTO A YARD ACROSS THE ROADWAY. BENNETT THEN JUMPED OFF THE ATV AND A FOOT PURSUIT ENSUED. HE WAS EVENTUALLY DETAINED AND WAS FOUND TO BE IN POSITION OF TWO LOADED SYRINGES. BENNETT FACES CHARGES OF EVADING ARREST, POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II METH, AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHENALIA. THE A-T-V BENNETT WAS DRIVING WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN A DRUG ARREST THAT OCCURRED DAYS EARLIER ON NORTH BRACE ROAD WHEN SHERIFF MYERS STOPPED MATTHEW RYAN BLAIR, WHO WAS FOUND TO BE IN POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II METH AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERANIA IN ADDITION TO OUTSTANDING WARRANTS IN MAURY COUNTY.
