THE LAWRENCEBURG CITY COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION THIS MORNING (THURSDAY). LEADERS ENTERTAINED A SHORT AGENDA IN WHICH ALL ITEMS WERE VOTED ON AND APPROVED AMONG THE ITEMS INCLUDED AN ORDINANCE TO ABANDON A 12 FOOT GRASS ALLEY BETWEEN PARK STREET AND EVERGREEN WHERE UPON ABANDONMENT ADJOINING PROPERTY OWNERS WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE. A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY POLICE TO APPLY AND ACCEPT A 100 PERCENT GRANT WITH THE TENNESSEE HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE IN THE AMOUNT OF 10 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO BE USED TO COMPENSATE OFFICERS FOR OVERTIME ON TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT ALSO PASSED AS DID A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TENNESSEE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR HOME GRANT FUNDS TO ADDRESS SUBSTANDARD HOUSING. A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO APPROVE APPLICATION AND ACCEPT A GRANT THROUGH THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLER UPGRADE IN THE AMOUNT OF 50,000 DOLLARS SAW MUCH FAVOR. THE FUNDS WILL BE USED TOWARDS UPGRADES AT THE FOLLOWING INTERSECTIONS ALONG HIGHWAY 43; KROGER ENTRANCE, WEAKLEY CREEK ROAD, FOURTH STREET, FIRST STREET AND EAST GAINES. RESIDENCES WERE ALSO REMINDED THAT CITY OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED ON APRIL 2ND IN OBSERVANCE OF THE GOOD FRIDAY HOLIDAY.
