Garth Brooks is the recipient of The Inaugural George H.W. Bush Points of Light Award for Caring and Compassion. The award was created to honor individuals who advance solutions to the world's toughest challenges and exemplify the traits of its late founder, the 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush.

Brooks is the co-founder of the Teammates for Kids Foundation, which converts sports statistics into funds for children's charities focused on children's health, education and inner-city outreach. He is also a decade-long volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Brooks will be honored during The George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards Gala Sept. 26 at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City.
