Christmas came a little early for Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley, as the couple welcomed their first child into the world on Saturday afternoon (12/23). Their daughter, Olivia Rose, was born in Nashville weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz and measured 19 and ¼ inches long.

Tyler took to Instagram on Christmas Eve (12/24) to announce the birth of their little girl, saying, "I had no idea I could love somebody as much as I love @hayley_hubbard but last night God gave us Olivia Rose and melted our hearts. We love this little girl more than words can describe and it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. Our life has been forever been changed for the better."

Chris Young counts his induction as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry at the top of his bucket list for 2017. The banner year also included the release of his highly anticipated seventh studio album, Losing Sleep, his third record in less than two years and second consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart. On Wednesday (12/20) morning, Michael Ray was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Ray was also in possession of marijuana when police picked him up at a McDonald's in Eustis, Florida. He was released from the Lake County Jail earlier in the day, where he was being held on $6000 bond. Michael quicky took to his socials to apologize for his behavior. He wrote, "I want to apologize to my fans, family, and my hometown community for placing myself in this situation. I am so very sorry for the disappointment these events have caused everyone. I know it will take time; however, I will do everything I can to rebuild your trust."

Police say Ray crashed his 2012 Jeep into the car in front of him in the McDonald's drive-thru line around 4AM.

Maren Morris chatted with Taste of Country recently about being a woman in country music. She said,
"I think being a woman (in country music) has its ups because there are so few of us, that the few that there are get attention, but it's still a very lopsided chart. I think this week for instance, Kelsea Ballerini and I are the only two women in the Top 20." Morris also talked about performing live, "Everything shapes your album. Every conversation, every tour. I know after touring with Keith (Urban) and Sam (Hunt) I think playing live things change in your mind as a writer because you're like 'OK this works live, this really works live. This doesn't as much as I thought it would ... So that stuff really gets into your brain and it's filed in back."

Reba McEntire is being honored by the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans.

The award is bestowed on “admired leaders who have succeeded despite facing adversities, and who have remained committed to higher education and charitable efforts in their local communities” (via HAA).

McEntire has thrived as a country music superstar, despite early hardships including a 1991 plane crash that killed seven of her band members and a tour manager.

Reba explains, “I always say that you need three things to succeed in life: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone. These qualities have served me well in every part of my life, and I have no doubt my fellow honorees would agree. I am honored to be inducted into the Horatio Alger Association, and I can’t wait to meet our 2018 Scholars and help them in any way I can to reach their own dreams.”
