ON TUESDAY, MARCH 12, 2019 REPRESENTATIVES OF SHARP TRANSPORT REPORTED A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE AND CARGO TRAILER STOLEN TO ETHRIDGE AUTHORITIES. COMPANY OFFICIALS INDICATED THAT THE 18 WHEELER VEHICLE NEVER REPORTED FOR A SCHEDULE PICK-UP IN SULPHUR, LOUISIANA ON MARCH 9TH, AND AFTER SEVERAL UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO REACH THE TRUCK’S DRIVER, 40 YEAR OLD TERRANCE LEROY CHAPA, OPTED TO FILE A REPORT ON THE INCIDENT.

USING THE VEHICLE’S BUILT IN TRACKING SYSTEM, OFFICERS WITH THE ETHRIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE ABLE TO LOCATE THE MISSING TRACTOR TRAILER JUST OUTSIDE OF HOUSTON, TEXAS. OFFICERS CONTACTED THE HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT WHO QUICKLY DISPATCHED PERSONNEL TO THE TRUCK’S LOCATION. AFTER A BRIEF CHASE WITH TEXAS AUTHORITIES, CHAPA WAS APPREHENDED AND BOOKED INTO THE NEARBY JAIL.

“THE SUCCESSFUL RECOVERY OF SHARP TRANSPORT’S VEHICLE AND THE APPREHENSION OF THE SUSPECT IN THE MATTER GOES TO SHOW THAT WHEN THE FAMILY LAW ENFORCEMENT WORKS TOGETHER, WE NET THE RESULTS OUR CITIZENS EXPECT. OUR DEPARTMENT IS CONTINUING TO WORK DILIGENTLY ON FIGHTING ALL FORMS OF CRIME IN OUR COMMUNITY TO CONTINUE TO MAKE ETHRIDGE A SAFE AND GREAT TOWN,” STATED POLICE CHIEF VANCE JACK. “I SINCERELY APPRECIATE THE EFFORTS OF OUR COLLEAGUES IN TEXAS FOR THEIR SWIFT RESPONSE TO BRING THIS CASE TO A CLOSE,” JACK CONTINUED.

CHAPA WAS CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT OF THEFT OF A VEHICLE OVER $100,000.00 AND IS AWAITING EXTRADITION TO TENNESSEE. HE IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD UNDER A $100,000.00 BOND.
