FORMER EA COX MIDDLE SCHOOL SRO, TIMOTHY BYRDSONG, TURNED HIMSELF IN TODAY FOR CHARGES THAT STEM FROM AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED IN NOVEMBER.  MEDIA SOURCES REPORT, BYRDSONG WHO WAS TERMINATED AS AN SRO ON DECEMBER 14TH, IS ACCUSED OF USING EXCESSIVE FORCE TO BREAK UP A FIGHT BETWEEN STUDENTS. A VIDEO OF THE OCCURRENCE WAS CAPTURED WHICH SHOWED THE OFFICER BODYSLAMMING THE MIDDLE SCHOOLER.  BYRDSONG EXPLAINED HIS ACTIONS TO A CIVIL SERVICE BOARD IN JANUARY AND ADVISED THE BOY WAS NOT INJURED BUT IT DID CAUSE THE CHILD DISCOMFORT.  THE BOARD VOTED 4 TO 1 AGAINST BYRDSONG BEING REINSTATED.  BYRDSONG WAS INDICTED BY A MAURY COUNTY GRAND JURY AND IS CHARGED WITH OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT, AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT.  HIS BOND WAS SET AT 15 THOUSAND DOLLARS.
