THE STATEWIDE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN TENNESSEE REMAINS AT THE HISTORIC LOW RATE OF 3.2 PERCENT FOR APRIL ACCORDING TO THE LATEST STATISTICS RELEASED BY THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. OVER THE PAST YEAR TENNESSEE'S APRIL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DECREASE .4 OF A PERCENT WHEN COMPARED TO APRIL 2018 AND OVER THAT TIME PERIOD AN ESTIMATED 51 THOUSAND NEW NON FARM JOBS WERE GAINED.  NATIONALLY THE APRIL PRELIMINARY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FOR THE U-S WAS AT 3.6 PERCENT, WHICH IS 0.2 OF A PERCENTAGE POINT LOWER THAN MARCH’S NATIONAL RATE.
