Scarecrows known as Tattie Bogle are making their way back to help usher in the county's fall season.
Tattie Bogle is the Scottish name for what Giles County calls scarecrows. A Scottish influence, it is a part of the makeup of the community.
Giles County Chamber initiative was first started a decade ago and now it’s back this fall.
The past few years, Tattie Bogle competition was open only to downtown merchants and businesses, but now everyone in Giles County is encouraged to create their own and join the fun for a chance to win the prize pot.
According to Pulaski Directory Olivia Officer, five dollars of every registration fee will go into a prize pool for the winner.
Registration is $20; chamber members get a discounted rate of $15. Non-Profit and government offices may enter for free. The last day to register is Wednesday, September 25th on gilescountychamber.com/events.
The Tattie Bogle is set for Tuesday, October 1st. Public voting will be on Facebook from Oct 2nd through the 14th.
