Ardmore Mayor Billy Shannon informed the council during a Town Council meeting Monday night that the sidewalk project is complete except for some sod in front of the high school.

Street Supervisor, Terry Barkley presented the council with pictures of the benches and trash cans to be ordered and placed along Ardmore Avenue. After discussion the council decided to order three 4-foot and three 6-foot benches and six trash cans for a cost of $9500.00

Councilman Mary Hobbs made a motion to give Town Clerk Sandra Cultice and Barkley approval to go ahead and order the benches and trash cans.

Barkley gave an update on the tennis court fence. The fence needs to be moved and core drilled into the asphalt outside the court. The council voted to advertise for sealed bids to do the work.

Barkley also discussed the flooding on Jones Avenue that happened last week during the heavy rain.

He stated if the road is deemed impassable, the town will block Jones Avenue on both ends. Chief Jimmy Kennedy will call Alabama Department of Transportation and they will barricade Highway 53 at Mooresville Road to stop traffic from coming toward Jones Avenue.
