Strong storms swept through Giles County Wednesday evening knocking out power lines and downing trees across the region.

All Giles County Public Schools are closed today (Thursday) due to weather and the school calendar shows students will be out Friday for parent conferences and President’s Day on Monday.

Road Superintendent Barry Hyatt said roads that are flooded in Giles County are Minnow Branch, Gunter Smith, Old Campbellsville, Robertson, Horn Hill, Weakley Creek, Annie Wade, Sugar Creek, and Big Dry Creek.

Hyatt also said several roads in the county have trees and debris in the roadway due to the storms.

He is asking drivers to use caution on all roadways as crews are out doing their best to clear the roads.

Finally, the rain throughout the county will move out today. It will be chilly and cloudy with a gusty northwest wind.

The mercury will start dropping by afternoon and then plunge into the teens and 20's overnight.

Friday looks to be sunny, but highs will only top out in the 30’s.
