The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency with multiple agencies from both Tennessee and Alabama continue their search this week on the Elk River near Elkton for a 51-year-old man who went missing March 15th.
The search included coordinated efforts from both ground crews and the Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter, but was temporarily suspended at dark after all-day search by local crews and the TWRA.
Rising water levels initially kept rescue crews from attempting a search by boat. However, crews hoped to begin searching by water when conditions are deemed safe.
The Elkton man put his canoe in the Elk River at Highway 31 in Giles County with the intention to paddle, camp and return. He was last heard from by phone the day before he was reported missing.
