The Columbia Police Department continues to investigate a spree of thefts which were discovered by patrol officers during the early morning hours of June 19th. According to a press release, Edward Lee Johnson, 34, has been charged with multiple counts of theft and is still currently incarcerated in the Maury County jail. Investigators and patrol officers have identified 81 victims to this point, and are still working to make contact with each victim, and identify any other possible offenders involved in this spree. The majority of the cases identified to this point involve mail being stolen from mailboxes. The Columbia Police Department is requesting that anyone who suspects that they may be a victim of this spree, or anyone who believes they may have information about this spree to please contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 931-560-1670.
