The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will participate in operation dry water on July 3rd through July 5th.
The even is a national weekend of boating under the influence of education and enforcement directed toward reducing alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities.
Operation Dry Water is in its 11th year and is held on the weekend before the Independence Day holiday to give boating under influence enforcement high visibility during peak boating season.
The TWRA will team with the US Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
Boating officers will saturate high traffic areas on reservoirs across the state to check for the use of life jackets and other safety practices along with making boaters aware of the effects and ramifications of alcohol and drug use on the water.
In 2019 during operation Dry Water, there were 9 boating under the influence arrests across the state and one boating related fatality.
