A search continues for a missing Giles County woman who is believed to have jumped from the Elkton-Prospect bridge on Highway 273.
According to the Giles County Sheriff's Department, a 911 call was made shortly after 11 am Monday when a passing motorist reportedly saw a woman jump from the bridge and was swept into the raging waters of Richland Creek.
A search began shortly after the call with a helicopter, and drones with law enforcement and squad members walking the banks because the water was too swift to put boats in the river.
The search was temporarily terminated due to darkness but resumed on Tuesday.
Giles County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation.
On the scene were members from the Giles County Fire and Rescue, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Giles EMS, and Giles OEM all aiding in the search.
