Lewisburg Patrol Officers responded Tuesday to a call of a man firing a gun in the parking lot of the Summit Apartments.
Upon arrival, the first responding officer found a black male subject in the parking area of the building complex. The subject, later identified as Eric Parker of Lewisburg, was armed with a revolver and had fired several shots, including shots toward the responding officer who had not exited his patrol vehicle.
Parker was armed and walking across the parking lot toward officers stationed at the entrance of the complex yelling, "black lives matter" and "George Floyd" as he advanced toward officers, stopping within 20 yards of their position.
The shooter fired another shot from his revolver and then immediately tossed the weapon to the ground and surrendered. After a short struggle, Parker was taken into custody.
During the arrest, one Lewisburg Police Officer suffered an injury to his hand and was treated and released from the Marshall Medical Center.
Parker was transported to the Marshall County Detention Facility where charges are currently pending, and the investigation by Lewisburg Police detectives is ongoing.
