More than 881,000 new unemployment claims have been filed in Tennessee since mid-March, according to data released Thursday morning by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce.
In Giles County, continued unemployment claims were 332 and initial claims were 49.
The department reported the number of new claims in Tennessee for the week ending October 10th was 10,145, up just slightly from the previous week when 9,839 new claims were filed.
This was the second-lowest number of new claims since the week ending March 14th, when the pandemic began and approximately 2,702 new claims were made.
The number of continued unemployment claims in Tennessee was 90,507 for the week ending October 10th, which is down 125,238 from the previous week.
