More than 891,598 new unemployment claims have been filed in Tennessee since mid-March, according to data released Thursday morning by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce.
In Giles County, continued unemployment claims were 304 and initial claims were 44.
The department reported the number of new claims in Tennessee for the week ending October 17th was 9,873.
This was the second-lowest number of new claims since the week ending March 14th, when the pandemic began and approximately 2,702 new claims were made.
The number of continued unemployment claims in Tennessee was 77,740 for the week ending October 17th, which is down from the previous week.
