More than 964,384 new unemployment claims have been filed in Tennessee since mid-March, according to data released today (Thursday) by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce.
In Giles County, continued unemployment claims were 136 and initial claims were 27, up from last week.
The department reported the number of new claims for the week ending December 19th was 7,411, which was up from the previous week, and 43,482 continued claims reported.
The number of continued unemployment claims in Tennessee was 45,226 for the week ending December 26th, and there were 45,226 continued claims.
The number remains up from the week ending March 14th, around the start of the pandemic, when approximately 2,702 new claims were made.
