More than 980,983 new unemployment claims have been filed in Tennessee since mid-March, according to data released today (Thursday) by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce.
In Giles County, continued unemployment claims increased to 206 and initial claims were 55, up from last week.
The department reported the number of new claims for the week ending January 2nd was 16,554 which was up from the previous week, and 51,816 continued claims reported.
The number of continued unemployment claims in Tennessee was 45,226 for the week ending December 26th.
The number remains up from the week ending March 14th, around the start of the pandemic, when approximately 2,702 new claims were made.
