Due to an executive order from Governor Bill Lee, the Giles County Commission’s meeting was held virtually, with county officials in the basement boardroom and the remaining attending by computer and phone.
The commissioners heard from Giles County EDC Director David Hamilton that the Giles County jobless rate increased from 5.6 percent to 7.1 percent.
Hamilton provided updates on economic development projects in November.
Commissioners approved new and renewal Notaries Public and appointed Commissioner Gayle Jones to the Library Board.
Also approved were the amendments for the 2020-21 budget and county general fund, including COVID pay for county employees.
The rules of the county court were approved along with a request that meat processing is added to the curriculum at TCAT-Pulaski.
Commissioners also voted to rescind the Nuisance Law passed by the county commission in 2003.
