A lawyer of a southern Middle Tennessee legislator said his client was "shocked" when federal agents descended on his home and businesses as part of an investigation involving several Tennessee Republican lawmakers.
Federal agents searched the homes and offices of multiple Tennessee Republican House members’ on Friday, including newly-elected Representative Todd Warner, a republican from Chapel Hill.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Tennessee confirmed that the home of Warner was visited by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“I am not even sworn in yet,” said Warner on Friday afternoon, before directing all questions to his legal counsel.
His attorney said Warner is a successful small businessman, farmer, and freshman legislator.
Representative Warner has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
