More than 1,002,908 new unemployment claims have been filed in Tennessee since mid-March, according to data released today (Thursday) by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce.
In Giles County, continued unemployment claims were 248 and initial claims were 141, up from last week.
The department reported the number of new claims for the week ending January 9th was 21,954 which was up from the previous week, and 51,816 continued claims reported.
The number remains up from the week ending March 14th, around the start of the pandemic, when approximately 2,702 new claims were made.
