The Tennessee Highway Patrol plans to conduct roadside safety and sobriety checkpoints during the week of January 25th in Maury County.
THP will be present on State Highway 50, 0.1 miles east of the 28-mile marker.
The effort is part of an ongoing initiative to keep the public from driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
“Troopers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment," Sergeant. Samuel Holcomb said. "Troopers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists."
Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 every year in the U.S., according to officials.
