THE TENNESSEE WILDLIFE RESOURCES AGENCY (TWRA) WILL BE SAMPLING WILD TURKEY HARVESTED BY HUNTERS IN AN EFFORT TO STUDY TURKEY DISEASE AND PARASITES.

TWRA WILL COLLECT SAMPLES DURING APRIL IN LINCOLN, LAWRENCE, GILES, AND WAYNE COUNTIES AS PART OF A MULTI-PRONGED STUDY ON THE POSSIBLE DECLINE OF TURKEY POPULATIONS IN SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.

HUNTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR HARVESTS TO SAMPLING STATIONS WHERE TISSUE SAMPLES WILL BE TAKEN FROM THE HEAD AND INTERNAL ORGANS. SAMPLES WILL THEN BE SENT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE KNOXVILLE FOR THE STUDY.

APRIL 17TH FROM 8AM UNTIL TO 2PM IN GILES COUNTY AT RICHLAND TRACE MKT, 19326 US- 64 BYPASS, PULASKI, AND LIB’S GROCERY, 8299 ELKTON PIKE, ELKTON. AND ALSO IN LAWRENCE COUNTY AT MARSHALL’S GROCERY, 3706 US-43, ETHRIDGE, AND LAWSON’S, 536 N. MILITARY STREET, LORETTO.
