THE PULASKI ELECTRIC SYSTEM BOARD OF DIRECTORS MET IN A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING TODAY FOLLOWING THE RESIGNATION OF CEO RICHARD KELLEY. LEADERS DISCUSSED THE PROCESS IN FINDING A REPLACEMENT AND THE SALARY FOR THE POSITION AND THE REALITY THAT IT MAY ATTRACT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE ONLY USING P-E-S AS A STEPPING STOP FOR A HIGHER PAYING JOB ELSEWHERE. AFTER A LENGTHY DISCUSSION THE BOARD MADE THE MOTION AND APPROVED TO APPOINT BOARD MEMBER SCOTT NEWTON AS INTERIM CEO CONTINGENT ON HIS TEMPORARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE FROM THE BOARD. LEADERS THEN DISCUSSED THE TERMS OF THE ACTING POSITION INCLUDING PAY. KELLEY LEFT P-E-S FOR A POSITION AT COLUMBIA POWER AND WATER SYSTEMS. HE HAD JOINED P-E-S BACK IN 2003 PART TIME AND HAS WORKED IN A VARIETY OF POSITIONS INCLUDING THE DIRECTION OF ENGINEERING, DISPATCH, ENERGY SERVICE AND LINEMAN.
