THE TENNESSEE SUPREME COURT ISSUED A NEW ORDER ON FRIDAY THAT REDUCES REQUIRED SOCIAL DISTANCING IN COURTROOMS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE ORDER ALSO LIFTED CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS AND FACE-COVERING REQUIREMENTS FOR COURTROOMS, NOW GIVING DISTRICTS AND JUDGES THE DISCRETION TO REQUIRE COURTROOM CAPACITY LIMITS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT HEALTH AND SAFETY CONDITIONS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE ORDER ENCOURAGES THE PUBLIC TO ADHERE TO CURRENT CDC GUIDELINES AND ENCOURAGES ALTERNATIVES TO IN-PERSON HEARING WHEN POSSIBLE, BUT LOOSENS FORMAL RESTRICTIONS.
