THE GILES COUTY SCHOOL SYSTEM HAS RELEASED ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES FOR THE 2021- 2022 SCHOOL YEAR. THREE UNEXCUSED TARDIES, LATE CHECK-INS, OR EARLY CHECK-OUTS WILL EQUAL AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE. ONLY FIVE DAYS CAN BE EXCUSED BY PARENT NOTE. EXCUSE NOTES FROM MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS MUST BE TURNED IN WITHIN FIVE DAYS AND ARE THE PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY.

IF THE STUDENT REACHES 8 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES, A JUVENILE PETITION OR CRIMINAL SUMMONS FOR EDUCATIONAL NEGLECT MAY BE MADE.
