Alonza Bell Jackson Reed was born on May 6, 1941, in Pulaski, TN, to Dan Holt and Leona Bass Jackson. She united in Holy Matrimony, on October 7, 1967, to Robert Dorsey Reed. Together they raised their children in a loving Christian home.

Alonza Bell accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized and united with First Missionary Baptist Church. She faithfully served as a mother in the church and sang in the choir. She loved singing praises unto the Lord and testifying to his goodness.

She loved her church family and was very supportive of the various church ministries. Alonza Bell was a very fun and loving person who knew how to have a great time. She greeted friends and strangers with a great big smile and extended her hand to those in need. She was a life-long learner and continued to grow in all areas of her life. She embraced new opportunities with enthusiasm, passion, and joy. Whether participating in Christmas programs or mastering the use of Zoom to stay connected with her family and friends, she relished those opportunities.

A faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend; she was always there for her family, loving and encouraging them. She had a very loving and affectionate relationship with her grandchildren; who fondly called her Big Moma. She shared a mother/son bond with her oldest grandson Tim.

Alonza Bell received her formal education in the Giles County School System and is a proud graduate of Bridgeforth High School, Class of 1958 “Not to equal, but to excel”. She spent 30 years of her life in the manufacturing industry and graciously retired in 2006.

God called Alonza Bell to eternal life on February 5, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her parents, her son Kenneth, her daughter Anita, her grandson Amir, her sisters Katherine and Bessie.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving and devoted daughter Coretta (Brian) Young, Nashville, TN; her caring son Joseph (Shanta) Fields, Hickory Creek, TX; son Robert Lane (Tonya) Reed, Pulaski, TN; brother, Harrison Jackson, Pulaski, TN; sister, Phyllis (Lowell) Lampin, Miami, FL; brother in-law, Carl (Elease) Reed, Nashville, TN; Nine grandchildren: Tim (Meeka), Austen, Courtney, Olivia, Alicia, R-Kell, Cornelius, Curtis, Chesney, Seven great-grandchildren: Tre, Caleb, Aiden, Avaiyah, Addison, Jaiyah, Keidren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Public Viewing for Mrs. Alonza Bell Jackson Reed will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home 327 Mill Street, Pulaski, Tenn. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at The Greater Richland Creek Association (Central Building) 1095 Bledsoe Road, Pulaski, Tenn. beginning with visitation at 11:30 a.m. and the 12:00 noon funeral service immediately following.

Social distancing and wearing of masks is required. Temperature checks will be conducted upon entry. Seating will be limited based upon social distancing guidelines.

Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
