After two days of play, the Martin Methodist Men’s Golf team moved into third place at the 2019 SSAC Men’s Golf Championship at Robert Trent Jones Cambrian Ridge course Tuesday.
The RedHawks currently sit 28 shots behind runaway leaders Dalton State, but are only 15 shots behind runner-up William Carey.
Individually, Eli Marty skyrocketed up the leaderboard Tuesday as he carded the lowest round of the afternoon with a four-under-par 68. Marty moved from 12th place all the way up to a tie for fourth.
Tyler Turpin improved by five shots from Monday to Tuesday to card a 73 and enter Wednesday’s final round tied for 14th position.
Tate Lowery carded a 78 on Tuesday to finish one shot behind Turpin and sits in 18th place.
The RedHawks, who finished runner-up in last year’s conference tournament, begin their final round at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
