After a sensational week at the plate, Martin Methodist shortstop Sabrina Gilliam was named NAIA Softball National Player of the Week.

Gilliam, a Columbia, Tennessee, native, was eligible for the honor after she was named the Southern States Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week.

Dating back to 2000, Gilliam is believed to be the first-ever national honor for the RedHawk Softball program.

The junior earned the award thanks to a stellar week at the plate where she went 15-for-21 across six games. 10 of Gilliam’s hits went for extra bases as she recorded 10 doubles to go along with two home runs and a triple. Gilliam drove in 14 runs on the week while scoring 13 times.
