Tuesday to allow contact sports in schools.
Executive Order No. 55 will allow for contact sports to begin on time, provided they follow the requirements of TSSAA.
"It’s an important part of our community athletics," Gov. Lee said. "We have to remember common sense precautions have to be in place with COVID-19 in order for any return to play to be successful."
Non-TSSAA schools must follow equivalent guidelines, and non-school-sponsored athletics should follow the Tennessee Pledge guidelines.
TSSAA decided last week that it will require fans attending sporting events to wear masks.
Schools will be asked to limit fan attendance and mark specific seats to allow for social distancing. Any coaches, players, team personnel, officials and fans must also have their temperature checked before entering a game facility.
This comes as Governor Lee released back to school guidelines amid COVID-19.
