The Martin Methodist College Athletic Department is inviting the Giles County community to attend February’s RedHawk Athletic Luncheon Wednesday, December 5th, at the Hickory House Restaurant.


December’s guest speaker will be Pulaski native and landscaping professional Mac Edmondson.


Edmondson, a 2015 Auburn University College of Agriculture graduate, will speak to the community on his two-plus years of experience at the famed Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.


At a place where nothing but perfection is accepted, Edmondson served as Horticulture Graduate and participated in all aspects of management of the grounds.


Edmondson recently joined as Project Manager at Falkner Gardens, a high-end residential landscaping company in Birmingham, Alabama.


Wednesday’s meeting will also feature a brief recap and preview of RedHawk Athletic and Martin Methodist College events. A prize giveaway will also be conducted near the end of each meeting.

The Martin Methodist Women’s Soccer team was eliminated from the national tournament in heartbreaking fashion Tuesday afternoon via penalty kicks versus Midland University.


The RedHawks finished the year 19-1-2 after the loss, their second consecutive penalty kick exit from the national tournament.


After the opening 45 minutes went scoreless, Martin Methodist opened the scoring in the second half with a goal from sophomore Ashlyn Wiggins.


But the underdog Warriors tied the game with 5:16 left and forced overtime.


In the extra periods, the RedHawks owned possession and rattled two shots off the crossbar, but could not convert.


The RedHawks say farewell to five seniors, captain Millene Cabral, who departs as the school’s all-time leading goalscorer, plus Taylor Ferguson, Taylor Mitchell, Makenzie McMahan, and Megan Grenier.

Fishing League Worldwide, the world's largest tournament-fishing organization, announced the complete professional angler roster for the upcoming 2019 FLW Tour season, the 24th season of the FLW Tour.

The field will be showcased along the 2019 FLW Tour, which features seven regular-season tournaments around the country.


The top award at each qualifier is $125,000 with $300,000 going to the winner of the FLW Cup.


The 2019 FLW Tour roster is headlined by fishing legends Jimmy Houston and Larry Nixon, and a local angler….rising star Luke Dunkin of Lawrenceburg.

The Giles County Lady ‘Cats knocked-off the Lawrence County Lady Wildcats last night…59 to 57.


The Richland Lady Raiders topped Houston County last night…38 to 25.


The Lady Raiders lost to Summertown Monday night…75 to 32.

The Giles County Bobcats topped Lawrence County last night…59 to 56.

The # 3 seed Martin Methodist Women’s Soccer team scored five goals in the first half and added four more in the second to claim a 9-1 victory over LSU-Shreveport in the 2018 NAIA Women’s Soccer Championship Opening Round at Grissom Pitch Saturday.


Five different players found the back of the net for the RedHawks (19-1-1), who punched their ticket to the final site of the 2018 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship, presented by The Wharf, in Orange Beach, Alabama.


The win also marks the sixth straight final site appearance for the RedHawks.


With the win, the RedHawks will meet either Science & Arts or Midlands in the Round of 16 matchup Tuesday, Novemnber 27th at 4 p.m.

The Martin Methodist Women’s Soccer team is challenging the local community to come out and support the RedHawks in their biggest match of the season tomorrow.


The RedHawks will host LSU-Shreveport at Grissom Pitch at 1pm in the first round of the national tournament.


The contest is the final home outing this season for the RedHawks, who boast an 18-1-1 record.


Weather for Saturday’s match is expected to be nice with 60-plus degree temperatures and sunny skies.


Admission is $5 with a concession stand available.

In High School Basketball action last night, The Richland Lady Raiders made quick work of Fayetteville…64 to 28.
In the nightcap Fayetteville gained a split on the evening topping the Richland Raiders…68 to 48.

In other are action last night Summertown claimed two wins on the evening against Community High School…The Lady Eagles won 82 to 76, The Eagles won 65 to 60.

For the 11th consecutive season, the Martin Methodist Women's Soccer team will host an NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round matchup at Grissom Pitch.


During Monday morning’s official NAIA Bracket Reveal, it was announced that Martin Methodist will host LSU-Shreveport in the Opening Round contest Saturday at Grissom Pitch.


The RedHawks (18-1-1) enter the tournament as the #3 seed after they defeated William Carey University in the final of the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament last week in Montgomery. The victory ensured the RedHawks of the automatic berth into the 31-team field.


Saturday’s contest marks just the second-ever meeting between the two clubs, with the RedHawks defeating the Pilots, 2-0, at Grissom Pitch on Sept. 1, 2007.


The RedHawks are led by SSAC Offensive Player of the Year Millene Cabral, who buried the game-winning penalty kick in last Friday’s title match. On the season, Cabral scored 37 goals and added 10 assists.
