THE GILES COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS FROM CITIZENS AROUND THE COUNTY FOR ITS HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TEAM. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED HOWEVER ALL APPLICANTS MUST PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK, MEDICAL PHYSICAL, DRUG SCREEN AND MEET OSHA REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RESPIRATORY PROTECTION GEAR. TWENTY HOURS OF MOSTLY FREE TRAINING ANNUALLY IS REQUIRED AND ALL MEMBERS MUST HELP TO MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT MONTHLY ALONG WITH MAINTAINING INVENTORY AND HAZ-MAT TRAILERS.
