THE LAWRENCE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET IN SPECIAL SESSION ON TUESDAY TO CONSIDER A LIST OF CAPITAL PROJECTS FOR THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR. THE PROJECTS, WHICH WILL SPREAD OUT ALL OVER THE COUNTY, WILL MAKE LARGE INVESTMENTS IN THE VITAL AREAS OF PUBLIC EDUCATION, PUBLIC SAFETY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION IN PHASE ONE INCLUDE THE PURCHASING OF NEW PATROL CARS FOR OUR SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, THE PURCHASING OF A NEW AMBULANCE AND POWER COTS FOR EMS, ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE NEW HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER, LONG NEEDED RENOVATIONS TO VARIOUS COUNTY FACILITIES, IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SOLID WASTE FACILITY AND VARIOUS SCHOOL PROJECTS. PHASE 2 WILL CONSIST OF FUNDING FOR THE PROPOSED PROVING GROUNDS (AUTOMOTIVE TEST TRACK) THAT HAS BEEN DISCUSSED IN RECENT MONTHS AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW GYM FACILITY FOR LORETTO HIGH SCHOOL. THE MEETING WILL GET UNDER WAY AT 5 IN THE COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING ROOM AT THE COURTHOUSE AND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
