A TEEN DRIVER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY TUESDAY NIGHT AFTER FAILING TO STOP FOR AN OFFICER IN SOUTH LAWRENCE COUNTY. ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE, THE NIGHTSHIFT OFFICER FOR LORETTO POLICE DEPARTMENT OBSERVED A VEHICLE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON SOUTH OLD MILITARY ROAD IN ST. JOSEPH. THE VEHICLE WAS VERIFIED BY RADAR AT 85 MPH IN A 45 MPH ZONE. A TRAFFIC STOP WAS ATTEMPTED HOWEVER THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TOWARDS THE STATE LINE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHERE IT RAN OFF THE ROADWAY. THE OCCUPANTS WERE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE AND 18 YEAR OLD PRESTON GRAVES WAS ARRESTED FOR RECKLESS DRIVING, RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT, FELONY EVADING, AND DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE. HE WAS ISSUED A CITATION FOR DUE CARE AND TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE VIOLATION FOR FAILING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. GRAVES WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LAWRENCE COUNTY JAIL FOR BOOKING. THE 16 YEAR OLD FEMALE PASSENGER, THE VEHICLE OWNER, WAS RELEASED TO HER GUARDIAN. ST. JOE POLICE DEPARTMENT ASSISTED.
