THE LAWRENCEBURG CITY COUNCIL MEET IN REGULAR SESSION THIS MORNING (THURSDAY MORNING). LEADERS ENTERTAINED A SHORT AGENDA INCLUDING ORDINANCES PERTAINING TO THIS YEAR'S AND LAST YEAR'S BUDGET.  THE 2019 -2020 ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE CITY WAS APPROVED ON FIRST READING AND A PUBLIC HEARING WILL BE SCHEDULED BEFORE LEADERS VOTE AGAIN ON SECOND READING.  AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE 2018-2019 WAS ALSO DISCUSSED AND APPROVED. FOCUS WAS THEN TURNED TO A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF SIXTEEN 2020 CHEVROLET TAHOE VEHICLES FROM WILSON COUNTY MOTORS, WHICH WAS APPROVED.  POLICE CHIEF BEECHUM EXPRESSED HIS GRATITUDE AND ADVISED THESE WILL REPLACE A LOT OF WORN OUR VEHICLES WHICH HAS COST THE DEPARTMENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO MAINTAIN.  LAST YEAR, 74 THOUSAND DOLLARS WAS SPENT ON VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND SO FAR THIS FISCAL YEAR 11 THOUSAND HAS BEEN SPENT.  TWO RESOLUTIONS PERTAINING TO THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT WERE THEN DISCUSSED ONE TO DECLARE A 1998 D6H IN THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT AS SURPLUS TO BE USED AS A TRADE IN FOR A NEW D6 NEXT GEN DOZER WASTE HANDLER.  AND ONE TO PURCHASE THE NEW PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF 269, 048.51. BOTH SAW APPROVAL.  THE COUNCIL MEETS THE SECOND AND FOURTH THURSDAY EACH MONTH.
