THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE URGES TENNESSEANS TO LET THE PROS HANDLE THE FIREWORKS FOR A SAFER 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION. EACH INDEPENDENCE DAY HOLIDAY, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, MOST OFTEN CHILDREN, ARE INJURED WHILE USING FIREWORKS. THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION INDICATES THAT IN ADDITION TO INJURES, FIREWORKS CAN DEVASTATE HOMES AND PROPERTY. SINCE 2013, FIREWORKS HAVE CAUSED OVER $1 MILLION IN PROPERTY DAMAGE IN TENNESSEE. IF YOU CHOOSE TO SHOOT FIREWORKS AT HOME, FOLLOW THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY TIPS: NEVER ALLOW CHILDREN TO HANDLE OR IGNITE ANY FIREWORKS INCLUDING SPARKLERS. SPARKLERS CAN REACH TEMPERATURES AS HIGH AS 1,200 DEGREES AND STAY HOT LONG AFTER THEY HAVE BURNED OUT. READ AND FOLLOW ALL FIREWORKS WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS. WEAR EYE PROTECTION. NEVER THROW OR POINT FIREWORKS AT PEOPLE OR ANIMALS. NEVER TRY TO RELIGHT FIREWORKS THAT HAVE NOT FULLY FUNCTIONED. AND KEEP A BUCKET OF WATER AND A GARDEN HOSE NEARBY IN CASE OF A MALFUNCTION OR FIRE. PROFESSIONAL FIREWORKS SHOWS ARE PLANNED FOR THE AREA. THE ANNUAL LAWRENCEBURG LAWRENCE COUNTY FIREWORKS DISPLAY WILL BE HELD TUESDAY AROUND DUSK AT BOBBY BREWER PARK. SUMMERTOWN BAPTIST CHURCH WILL HOST A FIREWORKS SHOW TUESDAY AT DUSK AT THE SUMMERTOWN SADDLE AND BRIDLE CLUB GROUNDS. THE PARK AFTER DARK INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT MAURY COUNTY PARK IN COLUMBIA WILL BE HELD TUESDAY AT 9:00. AND IN PULASKI, INDEPENDENCE DAY WILL BE CELEBRATED AT SHAREWOOD PARK MONDAY NIGHT WITH FOOD AND MUSIC BEGINNING AT 6:30 AND FIREWORKS AT 9:00.
