James Wallace representing the West Gaines Community Club was guest speaker at the Friday (2/21/2020) meeting of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club.  According to Wallace, the group is developing proposals to save the building that once housed the Lawrenceburg Colored School on West Gaines Street.  The school is an important part of Lawrenceburg / Lawrence County History which the group plans to restore and establish as the West Gaines Community Center.  Planning and fund raising is in very early stages and Rotarians suggested several funding avenues that the group might consider.  Wallace invited Rotarians to a Save The School Benefit at Society American Nosherie on Saturday evening (2/22/2020).
