THE LAWRENCE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN REGULAR SESSION MONDAY EVENING.  THE MEETING BEGAN WITH RECOGNIZING TEACHER OF THE MONTH - ALLYSON SKINNER OF DAVID CROCKETT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, SUPPORT STAFF OF THE MONTH - JOHN IRWIN FROM LAWRENCEBURG PUBLIC AND RETIRED EDUCATOR OF THE MONTH - JONATHAN WEATHERS. ALL CONSENT ITEMS WERE VOTED ON AS A WHOLE AND APPROVED BEFORE LEADERS MOVED ON TO REPORTS WHICH INCLUDED AN UPDATE FROM ESG WHO ADVISED THEY ARE NEARING THE CONCLUSION OF THE PROJECT, DIRECTOR MCDANIEL ADVISED THE LAWRENCE COUNTY WEBSITE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING UPDATED AND ALL SCHOOLS WEBSITES WILL HAVE A NEW LOOK STARTING IN MARCH. BOARD MEMBERS RECEIVED THEIR DIRECTOR;S EVALUATION PACKETS WHICH WILL BE OPEN ON MARCH 3RD AT 1 PM BY THE BOARD CHAIRMAN AND WITH A MAJORITY VOTE MEMBERS DECIDED NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOARD SELF EVALUATION PROCESS. APPROVAL WAS GIVEN TO TEN TEACHERS TO RECEIVE TENURE AND APPROVAL WAS ALSO GIVEN FOR A NEW SPECIAL EDUCATION POSITION AT SOUTH LAWRENCE. LAWRENCE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL MICHAEL ADKINS PRESENTED THE BOARD WITH A PLAN FOR APPROVAL FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE ATHLETIC FACILITIES WHICH WILL BE PAID FOR BY THE CITY WHO LEASES THE PROPERTY. A MOTION WAS MADE AND PASSED. BEFORE ADJORNING MUCH DISCUSSION WAS BROUGHT REGARDING THE COUNTY BOND ISSUANCE AND IT WAS VOTED TO ALLOW DIRECTOR MCDANIEL TO MOVE FORWARD WITH GETTING SOME INITIAL PLANS TO BRING BACK TO THE BOARD. THE BOARD WILL MEET AGAIN IN REGULAR SESSION ON MARCH 30TH AT 6:30.
