ALABAMA GOVERNOR KAY IVEY, ANNOUNCED THURSDAY THAT BEGINNING AT THE START OF SCHOOL ON APRIL 6TH, ALL PUBLIC K TO 12 SCHOOLS SHALL IMPLEMENT A PLAN TO COMPLETE THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR USING ALTERNATE METHODS OF INSTRUCTION AS ESTABLISHED BY THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION. IN ADDITION, LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN ALABAMA WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE STAFFING DECISIONS AND DETERMINATIONS RELATED TO ACCESS TO SCHOOL BUILDINGS IN ACCORDANCE WITH PUBLIC HEALTH ORDERS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE CDC. THE SUPPLEMENTAL PROCLAMATION WAS MADE TO FURTHER ADDRESS THE OCCURRENCE OF COVID-19 IN THE STATE OF ALABAMA AND TO ASSIST IN THE PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS.
