AN IRON CITY MAN WAS ARRESTED EARLY THIS WEEK AFTER DRIVING ERRATIC AND FAILING TO STOP FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. ACCORDING TO REPORTS, A BE ON THE LOOKOUT WAS ISSUED MONDAY FOR A GREEN VEHICLE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WITH THEIR BLINKERS ON IN THE AREA OF THE AMERICAN LEGION IN LORETTO. A DEPUTY WITH THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT LOCATED THE VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY 43 NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF OLD FLORENCE ROAD AS IT WAS CONTINUING NORTH TRAVELING IN THE TURNING LANE. THE DEPUTY INITIATED HIS LIGHTS AND TURNED AROUND IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS ALLEGEDLY TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF CLOSE TO 100 MILE PER HOUR. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL JUST NORTH OF THE HIGHWAY 64 BYPASS AND TRAVELED ACROSS THE TWO SOUTH BOUND LANES AND BACK INTO THE NORTH LANE. AS THE DEPUTY APPROACHED THE DRIVER HE BEGAN TO FLEE AGAIN AND REFUSED TO STOP UNTIL HE PULLED INTO SOUTHERN TENNESSEE REGIONAL HOSPITAL.  THE DRIVER, IDENTIFIED AS 45 YEAR OLD, TOMMY LYNN JENKINS, ADVISED THE DEPUTY HE NEEDED TO CHECK ON HIS DAD. CONSENT WAS GIVEN TO SEARCH THE VEHICLE WHICH YIELDED A BLACK ZIPPER POUCH WITH A TORCH LIGHTER, A GLASS PIPE AND TWO YELLOW SNORTING STRAWS. JENKINS WAS ARRESTED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE LAWRENCE COUNTY JAIL.  HE FACES CHARGES OF RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT, RECKLESS DRIVING, DRIVING ON REVOKED LICENSE, EVADING ARREST AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA.
