TENNESSEE GOVERNOR BILL LEE JOINED STATE AND LOCAL OFFICIALS THIS WEEK TO CELEBRATE THE COMPLETION OF THE I-440 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT – THE LARGEST PROJECT IN T DOT HISTORY. T DOT CELEBRATED THE RECONSTRUCTION COMPLETION WITH A CARAVAN RIDE ON THE NEW I 4 40 AND NEIGHBORS OF THE CORRIDOR WERE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RIDE, WHICH FEATURED DISPLAYS FROM THE COMPANIES INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION. THE $154.8 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT FEATURES A NEW ASPHALT ROADWAY, THREE TRAVEL LANES IN EACH DIRECTION PLUS AUXILIARY LANES, NEW LIGHTING, NEW COLOR OVERHEAD MESSAGE BOARDS, NEW LANDSCAPING, AND RAMP SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS AT THE 21ST AVENUE AND MURPHY AVENUE EXITS. THE I-440 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT WAS ONE OF 962 CRITICAL TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS INCLUDED IN THE 2017 IMPROVE ACT LEGISLATION.
