A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVOLVING A TANKER TRUCK ON MONDAY HAD EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT BUSY IN COLBERT COUNTY. THE TIMES DAILY REPORTS, EMERGENCY PERSONNEL WERE DISPATCHED TO THE SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT SHORTLY BEFORE 8 AM JUST SOUTH OF THE US 43 AND US 72 INTERSECTION. FIRE PERSONNEL WORKED TO EXTRICATE THE DRIVER, IDENTIFIED AS FREDERICK DAVENPORT, OF PINSON, WHO WAS TAKEN TO HELEN KELLER HOSPITAL THEN LATER FLOWN TO A MEDICAL FACILITY IN BIRMINGHAM. THE TRUCK WAS CARRYING 6000 GALLONS OF LIQUID ASPHALT WHEN IT OVERTURNED AND MEMBERS OF THE COLBERT COUNTY HAZMAT TEAM RESPONDED TO CONTAIN THE SPILLAGE AND TO PREVENT THE MATERIAL FROM ENTERING NEARBY WATERWAYS. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
